Dr Katharine Humphreys initially graduated in Neuroscience in 2006 before achieving a Medical Degree in 2011, both completed at the University of Bristol. Dr Humphreys trained in psychiatry in the Northwest, achieving specialist training in Old Age Psychiatry in 2024. She is currently working as a Consultant in Later Life Psychiatry with the South Manchester Community Later Life Team. Here, she treats older adults with complex mental health disorders including depression, anxiety and psychosis.
She is also involved in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia as well as capacity assessments. Dr Humphreys has a keen interest in service development and is involved in projects promoting recruitment and retention to community mental health teams. She is involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. Dr Humphreys is a representative for ‘Dementia United’, is lead for the ‘National Memory Assessment Service’ for her Trust and sits on the Council for the Manchester Medical Society for Psychiatry symposia.
