Dr Adelman is a consultant psychiatrist, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in older people. He qualified as a doctor from King’s College London in 1996 and completed his specialist psychiatric training in 2007. He has dual accreditation with the GMC, to practice general adult and old age psychiatry.
Through research, Dr Adelman gained a PhD in dementia in 2010 and has several journal publications. He has run a unit for clinical trials investigating new drugs for Alzheimer’s disease and was Director of the North London Dementia and Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Network for four years. Dr Adelman is highly committed to education and training and was academic lead for undergraduate psychiatry at University College London (UCL) between 2014 and 2018. Dr Adelman’s most recent NHS consultant post was with Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, between 2010 and 2021. There, he ran an in-patient unit for older adults with mental disorders. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex mental illnesses and dementia.
