Dr Senthil Subramanian is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in the mental health of older adults. He gained accreditation in older adult psychiatry from the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2013 and was appointed as a Consultant Psychiatrist for Older Adults at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust since 2014. He also has a MD in psychiatry from India and has been practising psychiatry since 2000.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, he has a wide range of experience in assessing and treating older people with memory problems, depression and anxiety. He manages an older adult community mental health team caring for people in Winchester and surrounding areas. He also provides support for local GPs, providing integrated care for their patients as well as supporting careers and families of patients with Dementia. Dr Subramanian has special interest in assessing memory problems in younger adults and in patients with Parkinson’s disease. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of functional mental illnesses such as mood disorders and psychosis. He is trained in using the Mental Capacity Act and in assessing capacity. He is also approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. Dr Subramanian is bilingual and is fluent in Tamil.
