Dr Fazal is a consultant psychiatrist, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in older adults. He qualified as a doctor from King’s College London in 2010.
He completed his core psychiatry training at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and higher training at South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. He is dual trained in general adult and old age psychiatry and has been an old age consultant psychiatrist since August 2019.
He is currently working as a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in the Sutton Older Adult team which involves cognitive assessments and community mental health assessments. He routinely cares for patients with dementia, depression, anxiety, bipolar and psychotic conditions. He chairs the trust older adult consultants meeting and is a clinical and educational supervisor and has supervised trainees on quality improvement projects.
He previously worked as an old age psychiatrist at Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust and was one of the young-onset dementia leads whilst he was there.
