Clinical Assessment for ADHD

getting started

ADHD in adults is often subtle—manifesting as struggles with focus, impulsivity, or emotional regulation—yet it can profoundly impact work, relationships, and daily life. If you recognise these challenges, the first step is to contact us for a discussion about your experiences and how we can help.

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT

You will be assessed by Dr Dina Gazizova, a Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions. The assessment includes:

We conduct assessments in person* or via video, with no difference in quality. Your consultant will listen carefully, avoiding rushed conclusions, to ensure a thorough understanding of your background and symptoms.

*Please note in-person assessments take place at the Edgware Community Hospital subject to clinic availability.

Additional evalutation

While many diagnoses are confirmed through clinical evaluation alone, we may seek:

  • Collateral information from family or past records.
  • Ruling out coexisting conditions (e.g., anxiety, autism) if needed.
Your consultant oversees the entire process, ensuring clarity and continuity.

YOUR RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

We aim within a week, to produce a detailed report outlining:

  • Whether ADHD is confirmed.
  • Personalised treatment options*, if appropriate:
    • Stimulant medications (e.g., methylphenidate, lisdexamfetamine).
    • Non-stimulant alternatives (e.g., atomoxetine).
    • Guidance on GP shared care after initial titration.
  • Recommendations for workplace/academic adjustments or therapy.

* Important Prescribing Information: To ensure safe, ongoing care, we require all patients to have an accessible GP (NHS or private) before we can prescribe ADHD medication. After initial treatment and stabilisation, your prescription management will transition to your regular doctor, with our team remaining available for specialist support. This shared care model is a clinical best practice that prioritises patient safety and long-term monitoring.
