Dr Kit Akass graduated with his medical degree from the University of East Anglia in 2012. Following completing Foundation Training in York and North Lincolnshire he completed his core psychiatry in North Yorkshire before competing Higher Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry in the South West London and St George’s scheme.
He acted up as a consultant in an Early Intervention in Psychosis service before completing his training. Since completing his training in August 2020 he has worked as a consultant liaison psychiatrist at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey. As part of his NHS role he works sees a wide variety of presentations, including perinatal psychiatry, eating disorders and neuropsychiatric presentations. Dr Akass is involved in teaching and since 2021 has been the Training Programme Director for the Core Psychiatry training scheme covering Kent. He was previously the chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrist’s liaison faculty’s Trainees and New Consultant’s committee.
