Halcyon Doctors’ independent mental capacity assessments are thorough (up to 120 minutes), covering the individual’s cognitive, psychological and physical health as well as their capacity to make a specific decision. We aim to complete the capacity assessment jointly with the solicitor straight after undertaking the health assessment and always liaise with the solicitor before finalising the report.

If another medical practitioner has recently assessed the individual’s cognitive function and has clearly and thoroughly recorded the findings, then the Halcyon Doctor may offer a streamlined capacity assessment of up to 60 minutes.
